At St Mark’s we believe that early childhood is a vital period in children’s learning and development. We seek to provide children with quality teaching and learning in an inclusive environment in partnership with families.
We believe that children learn through play, and provide a play-based environment, supporting the children’s language, social and emotional development.
We listen to, observe and respond to the individual children’s interests and needs as the basis to our programme.
We support the development of relationships within our community, beginning in our preschool, church and wider community, which is wonderfully culturally diverse.

Indoor/outdoor play
The program is flexible according to the needs and interests of the children.
Our food allergy policy indicates that we are a ‘nut free’ pre-school. This means that your child is not able to bring in products that contain traces of nuts or produced on lines with traces of nuts. If these products are sent to pre-school they will be sent home and a nut free alternative will be provided.
Your child will need a labelled water bottle each day which your child is able to use independently.
Children bring their own lunch in a labelled lunchbox. We wish to encourage healthy eating habits - a sandwich (crusts left on with a suitable filling) and wrapped in paper, foil or sandwich bags (not plastic wrap), cheese sticks/pieces, dried fruits, salad vegetables, egg, slices/chunks of cold meat. Please do not send lollies, sweet biscuits, chips or cake.
Due to health regulations we are unable to heat children’s lunches.
To avoid any risk of contamination, please place all meats and dairy products in a cooler bag with an ice pack, or in the fridge.

The NSW Department of Community Services recommends that we use the Early Years Learning Framework. Our program is play based incorporating the children’s interests. The staff plan together through observing the children, getting to know them, and their interests. We invite families to become involved in our programme.
Developmental records are kept for each child and are available to parents on request. These records cover all areas of development (language, cognitive, physical, social and emotional) and are the basis of our curriculum for indoor and outdoor activities and learning experiences.
Developmental records include observations, evaluations, short term and long term objectives, teaching strategies and checklists.
These records are continually being added to. Parents are welcome to make an appointment to discuss their child's development at any time.
