Hurstville City Council has opened a new preschool for children aged 3 to 5 years.
Jack High Preschool provides an educational program for a maximum of 20 children aged from 3 to 5 years daily, and operates from 9am to 3pm during school terms only. The preschool is staffed by a 4 year university trained Early Childhood teacher and an early childhood educator. The preschool receives additional assistance from office staff and Family Day Care staff.
We have attempted to meet the requirements of the local community by offering options in our attendance patters. Children can be enrolled in the preschool program on:
Monday, Tuesdays and Wednesdays - for one, two or three days, depending upon availability
Thursdays and Fridays - a set two day class.
The preschool enrols children with additional needs and is eligible for funding from Community Services under the SCAN program (Supporting Children with Additional Needs). Please ask the Director for more information if required.
Preschool is a time when your child will have lots of fun with children their own age. Preschool helps to develop and broaden the way your child experiences education, leaving them as confident, eager and enthusiastic learners who are looking forward to starting big school.
We are conveniently located between Beverly Hills Park and the Vanessa Street Tennis Courts.
Entry is via the Family Day Care Building. Interpreters can be arranged. Contact us today to organise a visit.
Eating at preschool is an important part of the daily program and we promote healthy eating habits. Our preschool staff will also help your child during meal times by reminding them to wash their hands, and they will encourage them to finish their food and not to share their food with other friends.
A piece of fruit or vegetable is placed and will be shared with everyone in the class.
The preschool will provide some other food to supplement the fruit/vegetables for morning tea. Children will have opportunity to assist a staff member in the preparation of this food. These could including but are not limited to crackers, cheese, scones, pikelets, sandwiches, pizza, yoghurt, popcorn.
Parents are requested to provide their child with a healthy lunch in a lunchbox.
The preschool receives funding from the NSW Government as part of the Federal Government plan to provide access to preschool education for all Australian children in the year prior to commencing formal schooling. Community based services are also referred to as not for profit services, meaning that any profit made is spent on improving the quality of the service - not a profit for any individual organisation.
