Communicare Sydney Rockdale Occasional Care Centre provides a high quality care and education program for up to 29 children per day aged 0 to 6 years.

We offer both occasional care and permanent/regular bookings.

Hours of operation:  

Our Centre is open 8.00am-4.00pm Monday to Friday.

Fees:

As a not for profit organisation, all fee and subsidy income Communicare Sydney receives is put back into improving the quality of the service provision.

Our fees for occasional care are $8.50 per hour.

Permanent Care $55.00 per day (8.30am to 3.30pm).  Permanent spots can be extended by half hour incurring an extra $5.00

Fee relief or Child Care Benefit (CCB) is available through the Family Assistance Office for approved families.

Staff:

Staff have a range of qualifications and experience. Certificates of staff qualifications are displayed at the centre for you to see. We also pride ourselves at Rockdale Occasional Care Centre on having a higher ratio of staff to children and more qualified staff than what is required by the NSW Children's Services Regulation.

Program:

Children are provided with a range of indoor and outdoor experiences throughout the day. We provide for children's learning through play and interest based activities that are developmentally appropriate for each child's age. Each class has a "day book" where you can read about what the children have done throughout the day. An individual portfolio is also provided for each child, staff document individual children's experiences and learning at the Centre.

For more information about our service - parents and prospective parents are always welcome to come and view the centre; however we do suggest an appointment be made by new parents, to ensure that a staff member is available to show you through and answer any questions you may have.

Occasional care is a flexible child care service where you can leave your child for any period of time from one hour to a full day depending on your individual needs.  You may wish to use the centre while you work, study, shop, attend appointments, pursue recreational activities or hobbies, or in times of family emergency.  Families have a maximum of 24 hours per month that can be used for occasional care.

Once you have completed the necessary enrolment forms the Director will organise with you for a one hour first orientation visit.  This orientation visit is for one parent and the child, both staying at the centre.  This visit is set up to ensure a smooth transition into the child care environment.  The child's first visit to the centre wtihout a parent is recommended to also be for one hour.
