Bright Start Family Day Care specialises in caring for children aged 2 years to 5 years old, with a total of 5 children each day and a special focus on school readiness. My family day care is conveniently located close to Stoney Creek and Kingsgrove Roads, close to Hurstville and easily accessible to public transport.

Hours Of Operation

Bright Start Family Day Care operates from 8.00am to 5.00pm, Tuesday to Friday.

Qualifications & Experience

Hello, my name is Theodora. I am a registered and qualified Family Day Carer with Communicare Sydney Rockdale/Kogarah Family Day Care. I have been a carer for 5 years. My previous experience includes working in long day care and preschools for a further 5 years. I hold a Diploma in Social Science (child studies) and hold a current first aid certificate.

Bright Start Family Day Care also abides by the Children's Services Regulations and the family day care operational policies and procedures.

My Philosophy

My philosophy is to meet the needs, interest and abilities of the children in ways that support learning, encourage independence and growth. I believe that children need to be prepared for school.

Bright Start Family Day Care focuses on providing your child with a school readiness programme.

This is achieved by:

providing a structured programme and routine;
each child has an individual pre-acade-mic folder which contains stencil work and tracings to complete;
have monthly topics which is reflected in the children's artwork and photographs eg shapes, colours, animals;
other topis reflect the interests of the children and special events throughout the year eg Easter, Mother Days, Fathers Day and Christmas;
some of the activities set up include threading activities, scissor cutting, laptop work, puzzles, matching games, counting and sorting games and construction;
encouraging independence skills including identifying own school bag and belongings as well as filling up own water bottle and hand washing;
every child has their own individual portfolio which contains the child's artwork. Photos in the portfolio depict the child's interests, abilities and achievements;
